Windsor Women’s Centre

STATEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

Windsor Women’s Centre is a registered charity situated in the Blackstaff ward of South Belfast. It provides education, training, advice, counseling and crèche services to students registered on its courses and larger community. The main users of the Centre’s services are women and children although certain services such as mental health programme and Advice Unit are open to both men & women

Our main raw materials are office products such as paper, teaching materials. We also use cleaning chemicals, paper and plastics for wrapping items, and some office consumables. Our crèche units generate waste that is specific to the target group i.e. nappies, disposable baby food bottles etc. which is at present disposed through the Council bins.

We aim to use local produce where possible and recycled products if viable economically as we are a charity and do not always have the funds to choose this option. However we hope to be mindful of this option in the future.

We use electricity and fuel oils for energy all of which produce greenhouse gases. We have switched over to alternative energy supplier for electricity whose supply is entirely from renewable energy sources.

We use water for cleaning and producing food and drink items. We try to maintain efficient use of these resources to minimize our impacts

We produce amounts of waste including food, paper and plastics. All of our waste is collected by authorized companies and we keep a record of the waste disposal receipts. We recycle our office paper, plastics and cans through a local recycling charity.

We aim to reuse material such as office paper whenever possible to reduce the quantity of waste leaving the premises.
