Advice Unit Report 2007
Yet again it has been a busy year in the advice department. There have been over 2,000 queries to the department mainly in the areas of Welfare Rights and Housing/Health issues. Over £100,000.00 has been accessed in benefits ranging from Attendance Allowance to Housing Benefit. My department has continued to build strong links with South & East Belfast Trust, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Northern Ireland Anti-Poverty Network, and Advice NI amongst others. The issue of regeneration in the ‘Village’ area is still being publicised courtesy of Northern Visions Television and I would like to thank Pete Bleakley personally for all the help given us in the past year. The series of 6 documentaries focusing on the economic, social and environmental issues facing the ‘Village’ area including footage of the Housing Protests can be viewed on NVTV.co.uk.
On a personal note I am coming to the end of my first year in Community Development which has been tough however it has been exceedingly rewarding.
