Childcare Report 2007
The Petals Daycare Unit and Afterschools Project are integrated to the overall aims of the Centre and continues to thrive and grow with demand always outstripping capacity. There is currently a large waiting list for 0-2 year places. With our successful bid to Surestart for a new children’s centre we are delighted that we are going to be able to offer local women full time affordable childcare so as they may take up the opportunities for employment or higher education. It is hoped that work will begin on the new build by September 2007.
The childcare staff have been involved in a variety of exciting new developments in training such as thus ensuring that all children who attend Petals are cared for in a stimulating and happy environment. As the staff are trained in all aspects of children’s development patterns, parents can be assured that should a problem be spotted then the Unit can engage the services of relevant professionals for eg; speech therapy or educational psychologist. At the moment a speech therapist who attends the Petals Day Unit at regular intervals.
As is now traditional the staff and Co-ordinator of Petals and Afterschools are extremely busy putting together an exciting Summer Scheme for all the children who have attended throughout the year, and as always ending the year on a solid record of achievements, rewards and a bunch of happy children.
