Co-Ordinators Report 2007

As will be apparent throughout this report there is never a quiet time at Windsor Women’s Centre.  Another year on and the organisation has continued to grow, develop and respond to need—both locally and district wide.

It makes me proud of the organisation and everyone involved with it, to see that, together, we make a difference.  The Centre was recently described as “an   excellent example of achieving a learning culture throughout the whole organisation - developing staff, volunteers and beneficiaries”.

This year Windsor has continued to work in partnership with a number of statutory agencies, both to promote the organisation’s aims and   objectives and to contribute to the development of the local sector.  There are details of the organisation’s activity throughout this report but I would particularly like to highlight a number of notable achievements during the year:

· Women's’ Centre Regional Partnership— all  of the 14 women’s centres in N.Ireland working together to sustain the sector.

· Core funding of the Centre is supported through Neighbourhood Renewal.

· New purpose built Children’s Centre to replace premises in Ebor Street.

· Purchase of property opposite Centre to provide a modern fully equipped  holistic therapy training centre.

· Design of web page, www.windsorwomanscentre.co.uk.

·  A review of the Centre’s policies and procedures.  Staff representing the ‘Village’ on a variety of statutory, voluntary and
   community
partnerships.

·  Community Development—sharing our expertise, knowledge and resources with other Community Organisations.

·  Working in partnership with local primary schools, Surestart and Social workers on the first Child Safety Pilot in Northern

Ireland.

·  Our Education and Training programme which continues to address individual and community needs.

· Participation of all staff and beneficiaries in the Greater Village Regeneration Campaign for housing redevelopment.  Our
  selection to
take part in ‘A Sense of Belonging’ a look at multiculturism in Northern Ireland.

We would like to end by thanking, in particular the management committee for their continued support and the dedicated and caring staff team, without whom none of this would be possible.
