Our Commitment to Community Development
Windsor Women’s Centre has been active in community development work since it was formed 20 years ago.
Our expertise and skills have been instrumental in helping new community organisations to develop. Local staff members sit on various committees taking active roles in the regeneration of the area.
For example, we have four members of Women’s Centre who are active on the committee of the Greater Village Regeneration Trust with one member standing as Vice-Chairperson. They make every effort to represent the needs of women and their families through the Housing Sub-Committee, the Youth Forum and the Education Sub Committee.
We also represent the needs of the area through our affiliation with South Belfast Partnership Board and the Neighbourhood Area Partnership Board, and host information seminars on proposed redevelopments, organise focus groups to respond to government consultations, and train local women so that they have the confidence and skills to take an active interest in the regeneration of their community.
