Our lobbying and campaigning work
Windsor Women’s Centre believes strongly in utilising a ‘community development’ ethos in relation to service provision.
We believe empowering local women who take part in our education and training programmes, enabling them to devise solutions to the problems that they may face as individuals or as members of the local community. Moreover, over the wider women’s sector and community and voluntary sector generally, to influence and progress key issues in relation to Women’s Equality and Human Rights. We believe that to properly realise a reduction in the discriminations and inequalities experienced by women , it is necessary to inform and educate women themselves, ensure our message is heard in the wider community and work collaboratively with other like-minded organisations to positively impact on government policies.
At this level, we actively campaign for the implementation of key policies including the implementation of positive policies as outlined in the Gender Equality strategy for Northern Ireland and a ‘zero tolerance’ policy on issues around violence against women, including adequate resources for survivors of such violence.
