2006 Chairpersons Report
It is with a sense of pride and achievement that I begin this report. Windsor Women’s centre along with others in the community sector have faced huge challenges this year particularly in the areas of funding and sustaining of employment and services. However thanks to the dedication and determination of the core staff this was averted we were fortunate that the skills of the team were such as to ensure a successful outcome.
That Windsor Women’s Centre is still a vital source within the area for women and their families is evidenced by our hugely successful enrolment figures across the Education and Training Project, by the huge demands made on the Childcare Department, by the increasing numbers of Ethnic Minority women in our community who see our services in terms of basic survival. By the numbers who depend upon the Advice Unit for assistance in Housing, Welfare and Employment Rights etc.
We enjoy a good standing not only in the community but increasingly within the voluntary and statutory sector also where Windsor has led the way in securing vital public services for the area in areas such as Health, Childcare, Training and Education.
As usual the Centre continues to be selected for many high profile visitors to the Province and has in many ways been the main organisation to push the boundaries of what local communities can achieve.
The continuing success of
So to all who make this possible, to the Management committee, to the staff, to the users and to our funders many thanks for your contribution in keeping our vision aflame and burning bright.
